Hi everyone -

My teacher, Souhail Kaspar, is returning to the Triangle to teach a full drum and dance workshop the weekend of August 2-3, 2008. If you are at all interested in Arabic drumming I highly recommend you take the drum workshop on that Saturday. I will have flyers to hand out when I teach my own workshop this Saturday, June 21 at Music Explorium - Souhail's workshop is also at Music Explorium.

Details and registration are here: halobellydance.com/souhail.html. If you are a dancer, you can get the early bird special for the Sunday dance workshop as well, but please note that the studio location for that has not been finalized yet.

This is a great way to get started with Arabic drumming or to continue your studies with one of the few teachers who can give you more and more encouragement and training regardless of the level you have reached. And if you register before July 10 you can get an amazing SIX hours of classes with this famous teacher for only $75 (prices go up after that). You are also welcome to bring a riq (Arabic tambourine) if that's your instrument of choice.

A couple of important points though:

* If you are a beginner/near-beginner doumbek player or play other drum types, make sure to start with the morning class.
* I still take the beginner class every time because there are nuances to be gained. Souhail is big on technique.
* Please feel free to forward this email to other drummers and pass it on to your dancer friends! Sunday Souhail will be teaching dance all day!

See you then! Email me with any questions.
